Millinery

Millinery has been around for ages.  A milliner designs, makes, trims, or sells hats.

Hats are making a fashion splash among people of all ages. Last year, Americans spent $1.04 billion on hats, according to The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle.

If you have an eye for design, a talent for handicrafts, and a feel for textiles, you may want to try on millinery for change. Hats signifies different meanings from culture to culture, religion to religion, tribe to tribe, individual to individual, in different countries of the world. As example, a lady from a muslim background covers her head at all times either you're a spinster or married woman. It signifies reverence for their God and husbands. As a christian some denominations in christianity acknowledges the fact stated in the Holy bible that a woman should always cover her head when in the church. As a Yoruba woman from Nigeria in West Africa, a woman's attire is not complete without her head-tie (Gele), as you can see in the picture above. Gele as it is called is a very important fashion accessory in my culture. Likewise ladies straw hats. It comes in different sizes, shapes, colors, textures and flair.  The latest is the headpeice, worn gracefully on most delicate crowns, e.g Princess of England, Kate Middleton. It's a new fashion buzz in the fashion community.
